What is MicroBlading?
MicroBlading is a semi-permanent procedure that creates the illusion of naturally fuller eyebrows. It uses a specialized medical-grade blade to mimic eyebrow hairs under the topmost layers of your skin.
Also known as, a semi-permanent eyebrow, MicroBlading is the most popular procedure in the cosmetic tattooing industry.
A staple in the beauty industry for over twenty years, MicroBlading has quickly risen in popularity and recognition during the past five years. As a result, advances in technology have made MicroBlading a must-have for clients interested in a hassle-free eyebrow solution.
Soft Touch Studio is the leader in Toronto for MicroBlading with PhiBrows Master Taiyaba’s precise techniques that create the best brow shape suited for the angles of your face. Put away your brow pencils, gels and powders – MicroBlading is smudge-proof, waterproof and lasts for years!
Who Should Get MicroBlading?
Microblading is ideal for clients who have sparse or thinning eyebrows. It is also a great option for clients who have experienced hair loss due to alopecia, chemotherapy, over-plucking or advanced age.
Factors such as skin type, sensitivity, history, hair growth patterns and healing are all taken into consideration and should be disclosed to Taiyaba, our MicroBlading master, before your appointment.
What to Expect During MicroBlading?
After an in-depth consultation about your skin history and the desired fullness and colour of your eyebrows, our brow master Taiyaba will carefully measure the angles and placement of your facial features to find the perfect shape and length for your face using PhiBrows Academy’s Golden Ratio technique.
This technique ensures the ideal placement for the beginning and end of your eyebrows and length and arch according to your face’s structure. Next comes pigment selection: we guarantee clients are satisfied with the colour pigment of their brows by factoring lifestyle, hair colour, skin colour and level of exposure to the sun for our clients. This is all done to ensure a perfect colour match that does not change hues after application.
Once colour pigment selection is complete, we start the blading process! Using a pen-like bladed tool, the medical-grade pigment is carefully inserted in hair-like strokes just under the epidermis’s surface. With microblading, only the topmost layers of the skin are penetrated with no scarring. The same area is bladed three times to allow for higher colour retention and visibility. Due to the precision of the procedure, our microblading process takes approximately two hours to complete.
A follow-up procedure is required for clients in need of any minor touch-ups. This appointment should be scheduled 6-8 weeks after the initial procedure to allow the brows to heal properly. During this session, Taiyaba will examine the healed brows and insert additional pigment via microblading for increased brow longevity. This follow-up is approximately one hour in length to ensure your brows are in the best hands.
Is MicroBlading Permanent?
Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that will eventually fade over time. Unlike traditional tattooing which permeates deep into the layers of your skin using permanent ink, microblading only reaches down to the first few layers of your skin using a powdered pigment.
The benefit of this is that as time goes on, eyebrow trends and the fullness of a clients’ face will change over time. With semi-permanent microblading, our brow expert can update your brow look every few years!
How Long Does MicroBlading Last?
Ultimately, the longevity of your micro-bladed brows comes down to a multitude of factors such as frequency of sun exposure, exposure to chemicals such as chlorine or hyaluronic acid, frequency of facials and peels or client skin type.
On average, MicroBlading lasts 18-24 months for the majority of clients but may clients opting for a colour boost or touch-ups at the 12-month mark to keep their brows looking “fresh” longer. It is important to choose an experienced technician with medical-grade colour pigment to avoid oxidization and gradual changes in the tint of your eyebrows overtime – remember, quality and expertise outweighs pricing!
Unlike less reputable studios who use sub-par products, we guarantee that your MicroBladed eyebrows will never fade to a red, blue or purple tint. At Soft Touch Studio, we use only the highest quality PhiBrows products to ensure a high rate of return on your brow investment by ensuring your brows retain their colour with minimal fading and suit your unique complexion for years. Get results that last at Soft Touch!
Does MicroBlading Hurt?
MicroBlading may cause some clients minimal pain or discomfort depending on your skin sensitivity. In order to minimize any pain, a numbing anesthetic cream will be applied to the area after the first set of base strokes have been applied to the skin. The reason for this is to numb the area more quickly once the procedure has begun and to ensure that the anesthetic cream does not interfere with the base layer of MicroBlading strokes.
Many clients compare the feeling of MicroBlading to that of eyebrow threading or plucking – the biggest difference being that MicroBlading takes much longer. In fact, the majority of clients fall asleep during the procedure. Take a nap and wake up with gorgeous brows!
MicroBlading Healing Process
MicroBlading penetrates the topmost layers of your skin, and as such, there is some healing time to consider. After your procedure, your skin will appear slightly inflamed and your eyebrows will look much darker than you may have initially expected – this is normal. Over the following two weeks, there may be some scabbing while your eyebrows will lighten gradually as the pigmentation settles in post-healing.
During this time, the skin surrounding your eyebrows may also adopt an opaque milky colour – this is also normal and part of the healing process as skin tissue heals from the inside. MicroBlading takes approximately two weeks for brows to heal and about one month for the colour to settle into the skin fully.
In the week following your procedure, clients are advised to get eyebrows wet or to touch their eyebrows unnecessarily. Applying antibiotic ointment or taking arnica pills/gel is recommended to aid in speeding up the healing process 24 hours after your procedure. Due to the duration of healing required after MicroBlading, clients should schedule their procedure to avoid conflicts with any essential personal, family or social events.
